Last weekend here in Chicago at the Hyde Park Vineyard, we had a guest speaker who spoke about the Immanuel Prayer method. I want to share my experience with you and encourage you to use this with your people for refreshing and healing.
We were encouraged to think of a positive memory full of joy in the last two weeks. I included this photo because I was walking down the street and suddenly turned around and noticed it was right before sunset and the snow was resting on each branch of the trees on our street. It was so beautiful and I almost missed it!
Then we were encouraged to ask Jesus where He was when this happened. I immediately got a picture of him tapping me on the shoulder so I would turn around and not miss the beautiful picture of the snow on the trees and the sunset sky.
After that, we were to also think of a difficult memory. Friday, our car broke down when I was alone in a nearby store parking lot. I was frightened and didn’t know what to do. I texted my friend Cindy and asked her to pray for me. The store manager tried to help but my car still would not start. Then I remembered that my car insurance includes a free towing service. I had their app on my phone. I called them and because I called from the app, they already knew my policy number and could send a tow truck right away. The truck driver drove my car to my favorite mechanic who was still working. The next morning they were able to fix the car in just a couple hours.
I really felt like Jesus was with me in the car as I waited for the tow truck. It was also so comforting to know that my friend was praying for me and we were texting back and forth until the driver came.
As we did this exercise in the church, we also shared the memories with the person next to us. It was a boost to my faith to share about how Jesus was with me in the good time and the bad.
