What a week this has been!

Demonstration outside our home in Chicago Monday night to proclaim that Black Lives Matter!

And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, Revelation 5:9

  1. What do we learn about God?
  2. What do we learn about people?
  3. What stands out to you in this verse?
  4. What should we do this week because of this?

I want to be a better listener to hear the stories of Africans and others of the hurts they have faced because of racism.

I want to act and speak up for people who are mistreated and speak out against harmful actions-past, present and future-made by people of privilege in our nation and others too.

Let’s be more like Jesus, clothed with compassion and befriend whosoever God puts in our path in our neighborhood and beyond.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12 NIV

My prayer for all those hurting today:

14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

2Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
