This is our friend Simon in India. He has purchased a used auto rickshaw and has begun to drive to make money to take care of his family. For over 20 years, he has been pastoring small house churches in low income housing in North Delhi and now in Kanya Kumari he has been reaching the lost in brick making factories. But he needed a way to make money to help support his family especially since they have a new baby. He even got a new job assignment to earn some extra money for his middle son’s school fees by delivering food for a hotel. He has to do this at night and he has never done something like this before. So, he is taking a risk while making disciple makers in the brick factories and training people even in other languages to reach the brick makers who come from other people groups.

Now, he also gets to interact with more outsiders as he gives rides to people in his rickshaw for hire. He is telling some stories about Jesus and some have even invited him over for tea to tell more stories to their families.

I have been reading a book called Putting Jesus on Display with Love and Power by Brian Blount. He tells many stories of praying for people just as he is going about his everyday life. He said we just need to look, listen and respond to the nudging of the Holy Spirit as we see people around us. I am challenged to do more of this in my neighborhood.

Today, I took some Subway sandwiches to the lady I have been befriending at the laundry mat and to a homeless person I have been praying for and talking to. They both reacted with big smiles and the lady at the laundry mat wanted to give me a hug. I go on prayer walks daily and really want to get more bold in my interactions. I want to see people healed and come into a closer relationship with Jesus.

Joshua 1:9

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

This scripture is helpful as we seek to take risks and grow in our faith to move people and bring healing to those around us.
