LONGING TO BE ENJOYED by God

I am reading a book by Mike Bickle right now called The Seven Longings of the Human Heart.

This is the first one: Longing to be Enjoyed by God.

Let’s consider some of these verses as we let God do His work in us to become who He intends us to be.

As a bridegroom rejoices over [his] bride, so your God will rejoice over you. (Isaiah 62:5)

What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them does not…go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoic- ing. (Luke 15:4-5)

When [the prodigal] was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and he ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. (Luke 15:20)

“If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Luke 11:11-13)

For whom the LORD loves, He corrects, just as a fa- ther the son in whom he delights. (Proverbs 3:12)

John 15:9

9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.

We are His favorite and He is able to make all of us His very own favorite like no one else.

The LORD said, “…for the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
(1 Samuel 16:7)

He delivered me because He delighted in me. (Psalm 18:19)

…that you…may be able to comprehend… what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ which pass- es knowledge… (Ephesians 3:18)

The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.” (Jeremiah 31:3)

Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me. (John 17:24)

  1. What do we learn about God?
  2. What do we learn about people?
  3. What stands out to you personally?
  4. Who should you share this with?

Let Him transform your view of God the Father today.

Let Him transform your view of yourself today.

May you be strengthened on the inside to believe all that you are meant to be.

(Mike Bickle’s books are available on his app as well as many other resources for prayer and personal growth.)

Mike calls this the romance of the gospel. Our lives have value and importance specifically because God enjoys us. We are defined by the One who pursues us. The fact that He enjoys us answers the greatest need of our hearts.
