Let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us
(Psalm 90:17)

In Mike Bickle’s book, The 7 Longings of the Heart, the second longing is for beauty. Let us dwell on the beauty around us and also notice how God wants us to reflect that beauty.
I am my Beloved’s, and His desire is toward me (Song 7:10)
He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of His glorious body, by the power that enables Him to subject everything to Himself (Philippians 3:21)
Oh to be like Him and reflect His beauty – this is my desire.
When He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him (1 John 3:2)
Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life… Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament…like the stars forever and ever (Daniel 12:2-3)
Wow, that will be an incredible day! Looking forward to that!
The righteous will shine forth as the sun in the Kingdom of their Father (Matthew 13:43).
Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven from God prepared as a bride adorned for her husband (Rev 21:2).
The glory which You gave Me I have given them (John 17:22).
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory (2 Corinthians 4:17)
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18)
And so let’s let these thoughts fill us as we approach the throne of grace to find help in our time of need being fully persuaded of the love of the Father for us now and forever.
- What do we learn about God?
- What do we learn about people?
- What stands out to you?
- Who can we share this with?
Let’s talk about His beauty and lead others into longing for beauty. Let’s notice God’s artwork daily in the clouds, sunsets, flowers, trees, birds and all He has made.
I’ve also found that it’s a great conversation starter on my walks, to bring out the beauty surrounding us. It’s good to get others to see beauty and then be thankful.
