Let’s look at 2 Peter 3:9:
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
So what is God’s will anyway? We live in a crazy world. In Chicago, we are surrounded by people from all different backgrounds. We helped with a grocery giveaway last week, and got to meet people from Syria, Venezuela, Mexico, Jordan, Turkey, India, and Chicago.
I hear Muslim people say Inshallah a lot when I ask them questions. So, I was just thinking,
what is God’s will anyway?
According to this verse in 2 Peter, His will is that nobody will perish, but that everyone would come to repentance.
So, when we think about who to spend our time with, what should we do?
Luke 15 talks about the shepherd leaving the 99 to search for the one lost sheep.
I think this is what we are called to do. Recently, we have felt this calling literally, to leave the 99
(meaning the traditional church) and go spend time with the lost. Even on Sundays.
We got to have lunch with an Indian who asked us tons of questions.
Then we had another Indian family over for dinner and we cooked together and played with the kids and ate together. They actually explained a little to us about their Hindu faith and their arranged marriage, and we had a great time together.
We hope to continue these relationships and share with them more about Jesus as we do.
As we consider even the war in Israel right now, let’s pray for the Muslim people to come to repentance and find Jesus. Let’s take the opportunities we have even in our own country, to
reach out to them and share about Jesus.
What is He speak to you to do this week? Can you leave the 99 and go find the lost sheep?
