We have been teaching people in South Asia about starting discovery groups with seekers as they go on prayer walks and find out who is interested in hearing stories about Jesus in their homes. Doing house churches and reaching whole families has some great results.
We talk to them about having what we call “friendly accountability” with the members of the groups they start. What this means is that after we discuss the basic four questions in a discovery group, we challenge them to actually make an “I will” statement and do what God has told them to do for that next week. So, when we get together again to meet as a group,
We ask the people if they were able to share with the people they mentioned the week before.
We ask them if they understand the passage and are ready to move on to the next in the series.
We encourage them to share stories with their family, friends and neighbors.
If they find a person of peace who is interested in hearing more stories, we encourage them to go to their home and see if they have an opportunity to share with their whole family.
