The Practice of Living Out Loud

Deuteronomy 6:4-9

4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

  1. What do we learn about God from this passage?
  2. What do we learn about people?
  3. How should we apply this to our lives?
  4. Who can we share this with?

Recently, someone invited me to the BLESS app. Everyday for 21 days they give you five names of people in your neighborhood to pray for. It’s awesome because we live. in a condo building in Uptown with 40 units. We really want to be more connected with our neighbors and this is a great way to get started. We are trying to have people over for dinner and show genuine interest in them when we see them coming and going. We are praying that we will find a person of peace and be able to start a discovery group in our building that would even multiply.

How about you? How can you make these verses very practical in your life?

We also want to disciple our kids and grandkids by sharing with them about what God is doing in our lives in a natural way day by day.

Make an “I will” statement about what you can do to put these verses to practice in your life.

“I will pray for my neighbors every day and invite someone over for dinner each week to get to know them better.”
