Last night, a little before midnight, we received a call from our daughter saying that the time had come for our second grandson to be born.
“Will you come over to the house to watch Lincoln while we go to the hospital.”
We rushed over to the house. As Amy came downstairs I spent a few minutes praying for her, “Lord watch over Amy and the baby. Give her a safe delivery, that is quick and without complications. But not too quick – just right on time.” While Ellen went off with Amy and Joe to the hospital, I spent the half hour waiting and praying.
About ten minutes after they arrived at the hospital, through one of the blessings of modern technology, Ellen started sending me minute by minute updates. “The baby will be born any minute now.” “Thank God.” He’s a beautiful 8 pound 7 ounce boy.” “They’ve named him Simeon!” She quickly began to send me pictures of our beautiful grandson and his happy mom and dad.
My emotions started to overflow, and I couldn’t hold back the tears. I was overwhelmed with thankfulness to God. In a matter of 30 minutes God had answered so many important prayers. As I lay in bed starting to fall asleep, I kept thinking over and over of James 1:17
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
Surely we have all received one blessing after another from our God, who loves and us and blessess us in so many ways.
