This weeks blog is from my wife, Ellen.
When we first started going to the Vineyard with John Wimber, we learned about hearing God’s voice. One of the leaders suggested that we spend time everyday being quiet with a notebook, and listening for God’s voice, writing down what He tells us.
At that time, I had a baby who took an afternoon nap. So, I would go outside sitting outside the baby’s room, read some bible verses, and sit quietly listening for God’s voice. I thought God would give me things to do as I was already a pastor’s wife.
However, for over a year, as I listened to God’s voice, He would tell me things like, “You are my daughter. I love you. You are part of my royal family.”
He also kept emphasizing this verse:
Jeremiah 31:3 : “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”
During this year, I questioned whether I was really hearing God’s voice, since I kept hearing the same kind of things over and over again. Eventually I realized it really was Him.
This was giving me a foundation of receiving God’s love daily and then beginning to do ministry out of this rock in my life. It gave me more confidence as a person since I used to be very shy. Plus I could begin passing on this love of the Father to people I meet.
When John Wimber taught about Jesus’ baptism, and God’s voice telling him and everyone present, “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased,” he told us this was also Jesus’ foundation for the beginning of His ministry and then it made sense to me why God kept saying these things to me.
WHAT ABOUT YOU?
IF YOU ARE QUIET FOR A FEW MINUTES, WHAT IS GOD SAYING TO YOU?
DO YOU HAVE THIS FOUNDATION IN YOUR LIFE?
