“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” I JOHN 4:9-10
One morning, while meditating on the phrase “this is love: not that we love God, but that he loved us”, I suddenly heard that still small voice whisper in my heart.
“You’re very comfortable telling me that you love me, and that’s good. But I want you to learn to be quiet and discover more about my love for you. That’s really where your love begins.”
This Christmas, in the midst of celebrating the love he demonstrated by sending his own son to live among us and ultimately to die for us, let’s remember to take the time to slow down, rest in his presence, and allow ourselves to soak in the exquisite richness of His extraordinary love.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
With love to all my friends in India,
Rickand Ellen
Dear Rick,Thanks for this beautiful Christmas thought. It’s true – it’s so necessary that we take time to be silent in the midst of the bustle of Christmas. With love to you, Ellen and your family – Blessings,Ruth
