Praying together at the National Leadership Conference in India 2019

It’s so important to increase our prayer life individually and as a team in order to reach our communities. Let’s learn from Jesus and his disciples how they did this.  We need to cry out to God to help us reach our communities as we look around.

First of all, Luke 11:1-4 niv reads:

1 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

He said to them, “When you pray, say:

“‘Father,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And lead us not into temptation

What do we learn about God from this passage?

Which part of this prayer speaks the most to you?

What does God want you to do in order to obey this passage?

Secondly, look at how the disciples prayed together in Acts 4:23-31:

On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them. 24 When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them. 25 You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant, our father David:

“‘Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?
26 The kings of the earth rise up
    and the rulers band together
against the Lord
    and against his anointed one
.

27 Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed. 28 They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen. 29 Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. 30 Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

3After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

What do we learn about God and people in this passage?

What part of this passage speaks the most to you?

How can you obey this passage this week?

APPLICATION THIS WEEK:

  1. Gather a prayer team to pray together regularly
  2. Perhaps make a what’s app group for prayer
  3. Go on a prayer walk in your community regularly
  4. Consider fasting once a week
  5. Plan to do an all night prayer time or half night prayer time once a month

Let’s do this! With God’s help we can expand our hearts to be more like Him!

Let’s pray for each other as we go out to fish for people!
