Start with God’s Heart for the Lost

Matthew 9:35=38: 35 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

  1. What do we learn about Jesus?
  2. What do we learn about people?
  3. What stands out to you?
  4. How should we respond?

Notice that Jesus went to the people! We need to go out and find persons of peace that will lead us to more people that want to hear the message of Jesus. We need to eat what they eat, and enjoy learning about their culture.

Babli and I at a DMM training retreat

Pastor Mukesh in Delhi has been discipling young leaders to reach the lost in several different communities in North Delhi. Raj is one of them who has started several discovery groups among people that he meets on his prayer walks.

About two years ago, he noticed a group of construction worker’s families in the basement of a building nearby. He asked if he could pray for them and slowly began a bible study with mainly the women of the workers. Soon there was about a dozen women and family members meeting weekly to have prayer and bible study together.

Over time, he noticed that one of the ladies was rising up as a leader in the group, Babli. He slowly let her lead part of the study, the prayer time and then eventually the whole study time. As he shared about God’s heart for people, she also began to do some prayer walks and met people outside in the parks nearby.

Today, she also has a couple discovery groups of ladies she is discipling in the same way and the pattern continues.

Let’s pray that God will open doors for us this week as we go out to the neighborhood! Here is our roadmap:
