Jars of Clay

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

2 Corinthhians 4:7-9 NIV

Do you feel like you’re living with a power loss or a Holy Spirit-powered infusion in your life? What’s your action plan to help you avoid running on empty?

Do you feel plugged into the Vine (Jesus) or unplugged? Why? Is there a kink (i.e. blockage) in your soul? What can you do to release the flow of God’s Spirit in your life? Ask God to reveal any area of your life where you need more of His power.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing

John 15:5 NIV

I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.

1 Corinthians 2:3-5 NIV

ASK FOR MORE

Sometimes I just need to go out on a bike ride to get refueled by the Lord. Or I go prayer walking with worship music playing on my phone. I need to get refilled all the time because I leak!

This morning I read John 7:38:

Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them

That’s what I want each day to keep me going. I am praying for all of you too!

Six months into this pandemic and God is still working! He wants us on his team to see what He is doing and join Him in bringing His Kingdom to this hurting world. Let’s encourage one another and keep going. It’s worth it! He is so faithful and loves people with so much compassion.

Latest story from Ruth today in Hyderabad: The little girls who have been coming to her house to hear about Jesus brought two of their unbelieving friends to get prayer and hear more stories of Jesus. These girls are making disciples! Anybody can do this even during this pandemic! Let’s go out and win some!

(Ideas from our good friend Kurt Bubna’s book Uncommon Hope, our sermon series at Hyde Park Vineyard here in Chicago and our dear Ruth who is doing the stuff in Hyderabad!)
