Consider a Christmas Meditation

As we begin this advent season, I want you to consider how to reach your neighbors. One idea I have come up with is to do a Christmas meditation on zoom and invite neighbors to attend. Right now I have posted an invitation on a community group on Facebook in my neighborhood to see if I can find some seekers to attend a short 30 minute meditation this Sunday, December 6th at 7pm.

I plan to do a short power point presentation including a time of thanksgiving:

Giving people a chance to share what they are thankful for with each other and get to know each other a little bit.

Then, I plan to read the passage Isaiah 9:6 naming four descriptions of God and giving them a time of silence to reflect on that.

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

After that, I would like to ask them some questions to consider as they think of these four descriptions of God:

•Counselor

•Divine presence

•Loving parent

•Establisher of peace •

•Which of these stands out to you today? •

OR

•Which do you feel you need the most right now?

Then I plan to offer to pray for them and play a song for Advent

Pause for a few minutes and see if God gives you an idea on how to reach your neighbors this season. Let’s spread some hope to the people around us. Let’s shine the light. Feel free to share some good ideas God gives you in the comments and let’s focus on Jesus together!
