Recently we heard a testimony that we would like to tell you that really encouraged us about a cross cultural worker who moved from West Bengal to Punjab in India.

His name is Rahul. After moving to another state to start a new disciple making movement in an unreached district, they experienced four years of difficulties and did not make much progress in sharing the Gospel in a farming community surrounded by villages.

Finally, after four years of trying to find people interested in learning about Jesus, they had a small group in one village of about six new believers and were able to begin some disciple making meetings. One day, they shared with them the story of Mary and Martha from Luke 10:38-42:

³⁸ As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. ³⁹ She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. ⁴⁰ But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

⁴¹ “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, ⁴² but few things are needed—or indeed only one.^[a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.

After telling the story, Rahul asked if anyone could retell it to the group. A young teenage girl did it and a young mom also told the story.

Then, they discussed the questions we do in discovery groups:

1. What do we learn about God from this story?
2. What do we learn about people?
3. What part stands out to you?
4. How can we respond or obey this passage and who can you share this with?

After discussion this fourth question, Rahul suggested that they go door to door in a village nearby and wondered if any of them would like to come along.

The teenage girl and the young mom agreed to accompany Rahul to the village.

At the first house, Rahul did the same thing and told the story and asked the questions.

At the next house, he asked one of the women he brought with him to tell the story.

They did very well and continued to do this with him that day.

Then Rahul told them that he was leaving on a trip for two weeks and asked how many houses they thought they could share the story with while he was away.

The teenage girl thought she could share with 6-7 houses.

The young mom thought she could share with 3-4 houses.

So, when Rahul came back after two weeks, he found they had shared with 45 houses while he was away.

There were about ten people interested in learning more and since then four of them have been baptized.

This is a very simple strategy that anyone can do and encourage others to do in order to share with the lost.
