1 CORINTHIANS 3:5-9:
What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. 6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. 7 So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8 The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. 9 For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.
- What do we learn about God from this passage?
- What do we learn about people?
- How should we respond to the truth given here?
- Who can we share this with?
The story on my mind is of a former drug addict who got saved in a drug rehab center in Sri Lanka that was faith based. He has now been clean for 10 years and sharing his testimony with many others at drug rehab centers, restaurants where he plays guitar and also many churches.
During covid time, he realized there were not good follow up programs in place for the local drug rehab centers and decided to start a zoom group to help them. He has had about 50-75 former addicts on these calls where he and his team seek to disciple them toward Jesus and even help their families.
As he learned about some principles in the disciple making movements he has started raising up inside leaders to lead discovery groups with the families of these former drug addicts from several rehab centers.
This has been so fruitful that an aunt of one of the former addicts gave him money to buy land and build a foundation for his own drug rehab center. They just laid the foundation last week with some volunteers who are a local cricket team (20 young men).
Prasanna is raising up a team to run their own drug rehab center with people whose whole families have come to know Jesus and get free of drug addiction. It’s truly an amazing process.
I believe this is an excellent illustration of the passage in 1 Corinthians 3:5-9 – God gives the increase as we plant and water the seed.
What is God speaking to you to plant and water in your community? Don’t forget, God gives the increase and causes it to grow. We will be rewarded according to our labor. We are co-workers in God’s service, God’s field and God’s building.
Amen…
Inspiring and encouraging.
