SERVING WITH COMPASSION and PURPOSE

This is some of the ladies in the Vineyard in Ahmedabad praying for one of the cleaning ladies’ mothers who had a kidney stone at the Vineyard preschool and she got healed!

The photo on the right is some of the guys from Delhi going on a prayer walk and praying for a man on the street who had just had surgery on his leg and his pain went away!

These are just two stories of ordinary people serving their communities with compassion!

Let’s look at Jesus:

Matthew 20:29-34 TWO BLIND MEN CALLING OUT TO JESUS FOR HELP

As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. 30 Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”31 The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

32 Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.33 “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.”

34 Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.

What is Jesus saying to you today? What do we learn about Jesus from this story?

What do we learn about people? How do we feel about people out in the community around us?

How should we respond? What is the Holy Spirit saying to you today?

We can only reach people when we love and serve them. When people see that we really care about them, they can begin to understand that God himself cares.

Wherever we do business, go to school, or socialize we can be on mission. It means praying for those around us and caring about their needs. It means serving them, all the while making it clear that we are followers of Jesus who love them, and who are ready to help them when they are ready to consider a relationship with Christ. (from Jim Egli).

Share a story of going out on mission and meeting a need this week! Make sure to tell them Jesus loves them as you help them!

We are in this together on the same team: God’s family! Let’s do this!
