Keep looking for persons of peace.
Notice your neighbors! Who is asking you questions and watching you? One of our neighbors, kept telling us she trusted us, and thought we would be a good influence on her family. This family had never really heard the Gospel! Three times I prayed for her when she was sick and she was healed! Then she would come to us whenever she was sick! When she started believing in Jesus, she invited other neighbors to hear the good news and we started a group at her house! She even invited me to come to her work place to pray for the sick!
Many were healed and saved in that place! She is a person of peace!
Be encouraged – Jesus is working in your neighborhood!
Pray for the sick! Do acts of kindness! Have parties for your neighbors!
28 “What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’29 “‘I will not,’ he answered, but later he changed his mind and went.30 “Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, ‘I will, sir,’ but he did not go.
31 “Which of the two did what his father wanted?”“The first,” they answered.
Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you. 32 For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.
John 14:21: 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
What is one way you feel invited to respond to this passage?
Make an “I will” statement to do what the Holy Spirit tells you to do in the next few days.
Who is someone you can share this story with this next week?
Obedience is God’s love language and a maxim for DMM
This is what the Discovery Group method does. In an atmosphere of submission to God’s word and an ongoing listening to the Holy Spirit, mutual encouragement is joined to loving accountability to slowly and steadily transform minds, hearts, and behaviors.)
God’s word and God Spirit speak powerfully to all who approach them with open hearts.
Discovery group principles:
- God himself can teach and change people without our having to serve as mediators, prophets, or priests. (John 6:45)
- By making the Scripture itself the authority and not the group leader, we can release everyone to facilitate effective groups in their own networks.
- We study the Bible to obey it, not to learn it, because learning without obedience produces self-deception and pride. (James 1:22; 1 Corinthians 8:1)
- We focus on one passage or story at a time:
a. So that we do not make people new to the Bible feel stupid or inadequate.
b. Because there is plenty to obey in the passage at hand, without veering into interesting but distracting discussions.
- No one is allowed to preach. Scripture itself is the only authority.
- People encourage one another and hold each other accountable to obeying and sharing
Go find some people peace around you! Say “yes” to Jesus!
