For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.
2 Peter 1:5-9 NIV
- What do we learn about God from this passage?
- What do we learn about people?
- What stands out to you?
- What should we do because of this?
In Sri Lanka, times have been hard and the Church has not been able to meet on Sundays in large gatherings. The Vineyard in Makandura has been reaching hundreds of people and they have been gathering for over 15 years.
We have been teaching principles about a Disciple Making Movement over there.
So when the Government closed the church, God had another plan. The leaders told the people on the phone, to open up their homes and to do discovery bible studies for their families and neighbors.
Over 50 homes started doing this and neighbors also joined in. Since then, many new neighborhoods have been reached and some in poor areas and villages. They cannot go to the church building on Sundays, but they are making disciples that make disciples in their homes..
We are so excited about what God has been doing! Over 15 new leaders are being raised up because of all the new groups that have formed in the homes during this pandemic time!
God is building His Church! Let’s keep spreading the word, loving our neighbors, and having godly character. Let’s make effort to seize the opportunities before us! We can make disciples in our homes!
Let’s continue to ponder what God would have us do during these times! God can make us effective and productive if we listen to His voice and follow Him. If He can do this in Sri Lanka with very strict lockdowns, He can do it anywhere!
Let’s encourage one another with these words!
