Book of Remembrance

Our wedding, August 17, 1974

There are certain things we want to remember and so sometimes we put those things in a book.

We then love to look through the book to stir up the good thoughts and memories. I have so many photo albums and journals. I have not turned all my photos into digital versions because I actually like to look through my photo albums physically, one page at a time.

I have not only been married 47 years, but I also have journals for almost all those years, even from living in India for ten years! I marvel at what all God has taught me and how much I have grown as I follow Him.

Can you believe that God also has a book of remembrance? He loves to recall those who fear Him and esteem his name.

Malachi 3:16 ESV

16 Then those who feared the Lord spoke with one another. The Lord paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the Lord and esteemed his name.

  1. From this passage, what do we learn about God?
  2. What do we learn about people?
  3. How should we respond?
  4. Who can we share this with?

—Keep a book of remembrance of what God is doing in you in this season of life. Be creative: write songs, create art, make visible reminders of what God has done and is doing and will continue to do.

—Ask God how He sees you. Write down what you sense and re-read it everyday this week.

—Pay attention to how you remember people and events in your life.

—Notice any spaces of shame as you realize God notices you.

—Where do you feel overlooked?

Notice any actions you take to be seen (i.e. social media posts)
