Abundant Gospel Sowing

  1. Abundant Gospel Sowing – In every known Movement around the world, missionaries and the first disciples are committed to generosity, when telling others about Jesus. They share boldly about Jesus and His goodness with their families, neighbours, coworkers, and friends.
    • Pray for God’s children living and working among the world’s least-reached peoples to continue and not grow weary in generously sowing the seed of the gospel among the lost
(Mt 13:3-9; 2 Cor 9:6).3 Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.”2 Cor 9:6: 6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

Pray for God’s Spirit to enable all who labour in the harvest to boldly be His witnesses in season and out of season (Acts 4:18-21, 29-30)

18 Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges! 20 As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”21 After further threats they let them go. They could not decide how to punish them, because all the people were praising God for what had happened.

29 Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. 30 Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

• Pray for priority to be given to proclaiming the good news (Lk 15:1-7).

15 Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. 2 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”3 Then Jesus told them this parable: 4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

What is God telling you?

What do we learn about God?

What do we learn about people?

What stands out to you in these passages?

How can you obey this week?

Who can you share this with?

So let’s pray and then go out and spread gospel seeds around. It’s our calling as believers.

You never know who has ears to hear until you try.

In Sri Lanka we recently heard about a retired army officer who was so open he told his whole family and they are all believers now. Let’s pray for opportunities to share our faith this week.

We are not alone. The Holy Spirit is with us wherever we go!
