A wonderful memory popped up today as I was listening to some worship music. I am relearning how to play worship on the piano after 25 years and it’s a lot of fun. I just have to find the guitar chords and usually I can play most worship songs.
There is a song I ran across called What Can I Bring? Six years ago I heard it sung by Anna Beth Morgan from Colorado. But I just found out Jeremy Riddle actually wrote the song.
So, six years ago, we had just come back from India and we were just moving to Chicago to be near our daughter and her family. Right after the fireworks on the 4th of July, Amy went into labor and had her second son, Simeon. I spent lots of time helping them and everyday it seems for a while I got the privilege of sitting out on the porch with him, just holding him. I would play worship music from my phone and every time I played this song, I would notice Simeon responding to the music and I felt like we were worshipping Jesus together. It was such a special memory for me!
I’ve been sending the song to friends today and just thinking about that special time.
It is interesting that Simeon is quite musical even at a young age and can actually play several instruments including ukulele. He can even play a kick drum at the same time and has done this since he was three.
Anyway, I just want to encourage you to pass on your love for worship to your kids.
We used to march around the house singing worship songs with our kids when they were little.
Another memory came up today on Facebook of us acting out bible stories when we were doing church at Amy’s house during the beginning of the pandemic two years ago. It was a special time together and Simeon would play along with Amy for worship.

We also love to sing in the car together and watch some Bible stories together and read stories together whenever they come to spend the night at our house.
So I just want to encourage you to keep worshipping and include your kids and their kids!
Deuteronomy 6:7 says,
7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Here are the words to this special song but I’m sure God can show up anytime when you least expect it!
This is my song to You
A melody of thanks for You
An expression of wonder
At Your beauty and Your splendor
No other cry have I
Than to know You more and lift You high
Oh God of infinite glory
Above all You are worthy
What can I bring to You
Simply a song of love and
Boundless gratitude
My whole life for You
You’ve rescued me from death
Given me Your kingdom and blessed
Me with Your love
Countless mercies from above
This is my song to You
A melody of thanks for You
An expression of wonder
At Your beauty and Your splendor
No other cry have I
Than to know You more and lift You high
Oh God of infinite glory
Above all You are worthy
What can I bring to You
Simply a song of love and
Boundless gratitude
My whole life for You
You’ve rescued me from death
Given me Your kingdom and blessed
Me with Your love
Countless mercies from above
Had I riches, I would bring them
Had I kingdoms, I would lose them
Had I the world, too small a gift
Would it be
My love
For You
Had I riches, I would bring them
Had I kingdoms, I would lose them
Had I the world, too small a gift
Would it be for You
What can I bring to You
Simply a song of love and
Boundless gratitude
My whole life for You

Love the stories about Simeon. Also love the song, but below it on YouTube was one of my all-time favorite worship songs, Exalt the Lord. Oh man, spontaneous worship as I was lying in bed!
